Research stands alongside teaching and community service as the third pillar of the university’s mission, without which that mission is incomplete. The university urges its faculty and students to pursue applied research that tackles real problems in industry, health, education and society.
Faculty research output
Every faculty member has an academic profile in the Faculty directory showing research interests, publications and identifiers in scholarly indexes (Google Scholar, ORCID, Scopus and ResearchGate), which they keep up to date through their own portal. These profiles also strengthen the university’s standing against the criteria of the Iraqi national university ranking.
Research areas by college
- Engineering Technology: laser and optoelectronic applications, construction materials and structures, power systems and renewable energy.
- Science: laboratory diagnostics, forensic science, and physics in diagnosis and therapy.
- Education: educational measurement, evaluation and counselling; historical studies; Arabic linguistics and language teaching.
Support for researchers
- Access to the Iraqi Virtual Science Library and the Iraqi Academic Scientific Journals platform.
- Seminars, panel discussions, conferences and research-writing workshops.
- Plagiarism screening before publication, and research-ethics review.
- The Scientific Affairs Division follows departmental research plans and records the university’s output.
Student research
Final-year students complete graduation projects and research under specialist supervision; the best are published under “Research & student projects” in the Downloads centre.
