Overview

The College of Engineering Technology prepares technical engineers who combine engineering knowledge with practical skill, in fields needed by Iraq’s industry, energy, construction and communications sectors.

The college has three departments — Laser and Optoelectronics Engineering, Building and Construction Techniques Engineering, and Power Mechanics Techniques Engineering — each awarding a bachelor’s degree after four years of study.

Teaching strikes a balance between lectures and laboratory and workshop practice. Students complete summer training in the workplace and finish with an applied graduation project that tackles a real engineering problem.

Vision

A rigorous college of engineering technology whose graduates are known for practical competence and problem-solving, contributing to the development of Iraq’s industry and infrastructure.

Mission

To provide engineering-technology education that integrates theory and practice under Ministry standards and the Bologna Process, preparing engineers able to design, build, operate and maintain systems, committed to professional ethics and safety, and ready for lifelong learning.

Objectives

  • Prepare technical engineers with the practical skills the labour market needs.
  • Provide modern laboratories and workshops that reflect real working conditions.
  • Connect students with industry and construction through summer training and site visits.
  • Encourage applied research and graduation projects that address local problems.
  • Embed occupational safety, quality and engineering ethics.
  • Offer technical advice and specialist courses to the community.
